Leo Cancer Care and NELCO Worldwide Announce Strategic Collaboration for Innovative Radiation Shielding in Upright Cancer Treatments

Leo Cancer Care, a radiation therapy company developing innovative treatment solutions in the upright orientation, and NELCO Worldwide, the global leader in radiation-shielding products and solutions, are thrilled to announce a strategic collaboration.

The partnership will see the two companies develop innovative shielding products for Leo Cancer Care’s photon radiation therapy solution, removing the need for a traditional vault and enabling cancer treatment to become smaller and mobile and therefore more accessible.

CEO of Leo Cancer Care, Stephen Towe Said “The Leo Cancer Care team is constantly driving to find a better way to deliver Radiation Therapy; for our patients and the clinicians treating them. One of the biggest challenges our industry faces with new installations comes in designing complex radiation shielding systems. By removing the need for rotating gantries we have opened up a whole world of possibilities to shield our products in ways previously impossible.

Stephen added “NELCO Worldwide are the world leaders in radiation shielding design so I am delighted to be partnering with them and look forward to working with them to make Radiation Therapy more accessible to those patients that need it most”

In addition to being Leo Cancer Care’s shielding supplier, NELCO Worldwide have furthered their partnership with the radiation therapy company by becoming a strategic investor.

"In these uncertain times, it is critical to keep our eyes on the future," says Rick LeBlanc, President and CEO of NELCO Worldwide. "Leo Cancer Care is well on its way to making an impact on the cancer treatment market now and for years to come. The decision for NELCO to make a strategic investment in this new promising technology,  coupled with the quality of the organization and superior team of talented and proven industry veterans goes a long way towards that goal. I couldn’t be more enthused at the synergies between our two organizations."

Leo Cancer Care already offers proton and radiology upright solutions, the photon product is expected to become available in 2021.
