Meet Marie
Named after Marie Curie, a pioneer of radiotherapy, our Particle Therapy solution combines our sophisticated, upright patient positioning system and fan beam CT.
The Marie solution can be placed in front of any fixed particle beam, unlocking modalities such as proton therapy, carbon ion therapy and BNCT. We believe this simple shift to upright positioning will change the particle therapy landscape for good.
Please note: Marie is not yet clinically available.
Features and Benefits
What makes Marie so special
Gantry-Less Particle Therapy
Utilizing a fixed beam and patient rotation means our treatment machine does not require a large rotating gantry and can be installed in new or existing treatment facilities, quickly and easily.
Online Adaptive
With the use of the upright CT scanner it is possible to undertake online adaptive radiotherapy.
Future Arc Therapy
The paradigm has been shifted with this technology whereby the patient is rotated and not the treatment machine itself but this does not mean that modern treatment planning and delivery is lost. Arc is still achievable with the MLC head static and the patient rotating.
Patient & Clinician Experience
Positioning a patient eye to eye with the team treating them allows both patient and therapist to read each others body language to interpret subtle distress or pain cues. It also allows a connection to be made which is the foundation for a trusting relationship in a time when patients feel vulnerable.

Gantry-less Particle Therapy
if you need to change a lightbulb, you don’t hold the lightbulb and rotate the house. It always makes sense to rotate the lighter object.
- Stephen Towe, CEO of Leo Cancer Care
We remove the need for large and expensive gantries by keeping the radiation beam fixed and instead slowly rotating the patient. This change will aim to bring these previously considered inaccessible treatment to more patients.
Today, centers looking to introduce particle therapy treatments, are recognizing the benefits of this concept, which has the potential to make particle therapy more effective, more accessible and much more patient friendly.
