Looking Back, Moving Up: Our 2025 Year in Review

December 29, 2025

As 2025 comes to an end we reflect back on this year and it is impossible not to feel proud of how far we’ve come. 2025 has been a year of momentum, of big milestones, new partnerships, meaningful innovation, and a growing community that believes in the future of upright radiotherapy.

Here are just a few of the highlights that made this year unforgettable:

A Landmark Year for Innovation

One of our biggest moments came when Marie, our upright particle therapy solution, received 510(k) clearance. This achievement represents years of hard work from our team and partners, and it marks a major step forward in making upright particle therapy a reality for patients around the world.

At ASTRO, we proudly launched Grace, our new upright photon therapy which will initially undertaking research supported by the Upright Photon Alliance. Introducing Grace to the world is the next big step in making upright treatments more accessible and welcoming in the next era of cancer treatment.

Our manufacturing warehouses have not been quiet this year and we recently celebrated the shipment of our 14th patient positioning system, embarking on its new home just in time for Christmas. This is a milestone that reflects the steady adoption and trust clinicians are placing in upright radiotherapy solutions.

Growing Connections, Growing Impact

2025 was a year of bringing people together. We hosted our first ever Upright Radiotherapy Summit in Palo Alto, a user meeting that sparked brilliant discussions, fresh ideas, and fostered a sense of community that will carry us forward and allow us to support each other as we take brave new steps together.

Our footprint expanded globally as we initiated 10 new product installs and formed new distributor partnerships, helping bring upright radiotherapy to more clinics and more patients. We also welcomed three new research partners, reinforcing our commitment to advancing the supporting evidence behind upright treatment.

Other new and exciting partnerships came to fruition, including:

  • At ASTRO 2025, we welcomed Loma Linda as a new upright pioneer adopting the Mevion S250-FIT, which integrates our upright solution.
  • Princess Margaret Cancer Centre entered a research collaboration to explore the benefits of upright positioning for radiation therapy patients.
  • A new collaboration with Sumitomo Heavy Industries, to introduce a new proton therapy configuration, combining their compact cyclotron technology with our Marie® upright treatment solution.
  • A strategic partnership between Fosun MedTech to commercialize Marie® Upright Particle Therapy in China, bringing more efficient care options to patients.
  • We announced a partnership with TibaRay to evaluate their innovative linac as an upgrade to our Grace photon therapy platform, enabling high-dose-rate treatments and compact designs.
  • IHH Healthcare announced their plans to include upright photons as well as upright protons to their radiotherapy portfolio in the future.
  • CQ Medical released their upright head and neck board which will support treatments in the upright orientation, taking us a step closer to our aim of improving the experience for those going through treatment for this cancer.
  • A meaningful relationship formed with The Swallows, a charity that supports people with a diagnosis of head and neck cancer, as well as supporting the people that care for them.
  • We continued to make valuable contributions to the international UPLIFT research project, which is a multi-million European grant and has now deployed 19 PhD students to investigate upright patient positioning and treatments.

Every partnership reflects a shared belief in improving patient experience and pushing the boundaries of radiotherapy innovation.

Putting Patients First

This year, we focused our efforts on improving the treatment experience for younger patients of the future.

We launched Statue Quest, a playful, empowering game created with Xploro, designed to help pediatric patients better understand their treatment and feel more at ease.

We also partnered with Stanford University to license their AVATAR device, their radioluscent screens are used as an audiovisual distraction during treatment and has shown in existing research to reduce the need for anesthesia during radiotherapy treatment.

These efforts are all about transforming fear into confidence and giving families tools that truly make a difference.

We have supported the publication of a number of research papers written by members of the Leo Cancer Care team including papers on: A SWOT analysis for gantry-less upright radiotherapy, patient perception of current breast radiotherapy and future upright  solutions, and photon and proton beam access for upright breast radiotherapy.

Looking Ahead

2025 was a year of building momentum, with 2026 set to be the year we go live and treat the very first patient with our technology.

We’re entering the new year with incredible partnerships, groundbreaking products, and a growing community behind us. Most importantly, we’re carrying forward an unwavering commitment to improving patient care.

Thank you to our team, partners, collaborators, and the entire upright radiotherapy community. Your passion and belief in what we’re building continues to inspire us every day.
