Upright Pioneers
Spearheading new research
Gunma University Heavy Ion Medical Center, a renowned Japanese hospital, have begun using the Leo Cancer Care demonstration upright patient positioning system to lead new research. This research will explore the reproducibility of upright positioning and test new immobilization techniques.
“The development of the upright irradiation system is a Copernican idea having the potential to be an innovative technology that simultaneously reduces the burden of patient positioning and the cost of equipment, and improves irradiation efficiency.”
Prof. Ohno, Chair of Department of Radiation Oncology
