Türkiye Adopts Leo Cancer Care’s Upright Solution For New Proton Therapy Programmes

Middleton, WI – 30th September 2026 – Leo Cancer Care today announced its entry into Türkiye, with two hospitals selecting the MEVION S250-FIT Proton Therapy System™, featuring the company’s Marie® upright patient positioning and imaging solution. The orders are Leo Cancer Care’s first in the country and span both the private and public healthcare sectors:

• Acıbadem Healthcare Group, one of Türkiye’s leading private healthcare groups
• Rönesans Holding, for Çam ve Sakura City Hospital, a major public hospital campus in Istanbul

At the heart of both systems is a different approach to delivering proton therapy. Marie allows patients to be treated in an upright, seated position. It is paired with any fixed radiation beam such as the Mevion Medical Systems worlds-smallest proton accelerator; this approach is designed to expand access to proton therapy by reducing the footprint and cost typically associated with conventional gantry-based systems. Both installations will also integrate RaySearch Laboratories’ RayStation® treatment planning system, creating an integrated platform for advanced proton therapy in a compact radiation oncology environment.

Both agreements were facilitated by Meditel Healthcare, Mevion Medical Systems distributor in Türkiye, which worked closely with both hospitals throughout the acquisition process and will continue to support local project delivery.

The two programmes add to growing international adoption of upright proton therapy and reflect a broader shift in how healthcare systems are addressing one of proton therapy’s longstanding challenges: access.

By positioning and rotating the patient in front of a fixed beam, upright treatment can reduce the space and infrastructure traditionally associated with proton therapy. Adoption by two new programmes in Türkiye, across both public and private healthcare, is another significant step towards making proton therapy accessible to more healthcare systems and patients.
