Introducing the Upright Arm Positioner: Enabling the Next Standard in Upright Radiotherapy

Leo Cancer Care announces the launch of CQ Medical’s Upright Arm Positioner, designed for seamless integration with Marie® and Grace™, our upright radiation therapy solutions.

Designed to enhance patient comfort and clinical consistency, the Upright Arm Positioner positions the arms securely outside the treatment field, improving reproducibility and workflow efficiency in upright radiotherapy.

As Leo Cancer Care advances upright radiotherapy as a new standard of care, innovations like this play a critical role in enabling reliable, repeatable treatment delivery. CQ Medical’s expertise in immobilization further supports confident setup, fraction after fraction.

Ross Tierney, Human-Centred Design Consultant at Leo Cancer Care, stated:

“Upright radiotherapy represents a fundamental shift in how we think about patient positioning and treatment delivery. Innovations like the Upright Arm Positioner are critical to making that shift practical in the clinic, enabling greater consistency, improved patient experience, and more efficient workflows. Through our collaboration with CQ Medical, we’re continuing to build the ecosystem needed to bring upright radiotherapy into routine clinical practice.”

Built to support the shift to upright radiotherapy in clinical practice, the Upright Arm Positioner helps teams deliver confident, consistent treatment—while improving comfort and clearance at every setup:

  • Arms positioned outside the treatment field to improve comfort and reduce collision and interference risk
  • Fine, patient-specific adjustability for efficient setup and repeatable positioning
  • Indexed, highly reproducible positioning to support consistency across fractions

This solution is particularly valuable for pelvic and abdominal treatments, where stable, repeatable positioning and clear arm placement can support more efficient planning and confident delivery.

Luke Federspiel, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at CQ Medical said:

“We are proud to introduce the Upright Arm Positioner to the radiotherapy community and look forward to continued collaboration with industry partners and clinicians to advance innovative patient positioning solutions.”

Regulatory Status

The Upright Arm Positioner is 510(k)-cleared by the U.S. FDA and CE-marked, meeting key regulatory requirements for clinical use across major markets.
